Email # 85

Hello,

No, Brother Gall is not the minister I mentioned; he is just a very involved member of another church. The minister's name is Paul and we haven't been able to see him for a while because he has been ill. We have an appointment to see him next Tuesday. And no, Shani and Gabriel did not know each other before they met at church, after we had taught them both.

Anyways, I have had a really good week. Today was another great P-Day. We went to St. Andrews today, the home of golf! How cool is that? we took pictures on the super-famous, old bridge there on the Old Course, and we bought golf balls to take home as souvenirs. :) It was fun. I have attached photos.

Anyways, other than that, another fun part of my week was the Burns Night. Burns Night is a celebration of Scotland's most famous poet, Robert Burns. To be honest, I don't know anything about him except for the fact that his moral standards lousy. But, Burns Night at the church was fun: our ward made haggis and turnips and we listened to some Scottish poetry from members of the ward and watched some of the little girls in the ward dance some Scottish dances. It made me proud to be here in Scotland. :)

Most exciting of all, Gabriel Koba accepted the invitation to be baptized on the 5th of February, this coming Sunday! :) Elder Smith and I are so excited about this. We had been asking Gabriel for about a week and a half to pray and ask God if he should be baptized on that day, and finally on Saturday he called us and told us that he would. :) I was grinning from ear to ear. When Gabriel gets baptized it will be the second one this transfer. That will be the first time on my mission that I have witnessed two baptisms in one transfer. What a blessing!

Everyone says that the last six months of your mission are the best, and I believe that my last six months will be. This coming Sunday is moves call, where I find out if I am staying here in Dundee another six weeks or getting transferred. I am hopeful that I will get transferred, but I will be happy with whatever happens. I am sure that the Lord has a lot in store for me in these last few months I have left.

Everyone back home should pray that, if the Lord is willing, I transfer down to the Republic of Ireland! :)

Anyways, that is all I really have to say this week. I hope everyone back home is well and I hope that you all have a great week.  I love you all.

Sincerely,

Elder Barton

P.S. I have attached a photo of Sister Murray scooping some haggis on her plate at the Burns Night. Yum! :)
